Smile through your next dental appointment with happy gas!

September 19, 2012

Anxious patients rejoice! Happy gas (also known as nitrous oxide), is offered at our clinic, and this sedation method can ensure a comfortable, relaxed and anxiety-free appointment next time you visit the dentist.

Benefits of happy gas:

This calming and relaxing sedation method is delivered through a mask- no needles required!
The effects of happy gas wear off in 10 minutes, and so most patients are free to drive themselves home after treatment.

You don’t have to floss every tooth- just the ones you want to keep!

September 7, 2012

Flossing should be a key part of your daily oral hygiene routine. Regular brushing cannot remove the plaque build up from in between teeth and along the gum line- which is where gum (periodontal) disease usually starts, and this is why flossing once a day is so important.

Top tips for correct flossing technique:

  1. Use a long length of floss and wrap the ends around each finger
  2. Wrap the floss around your tooth in a “c” shape and move up and down the tooth, right up into the gum line.
  3. When all plaque has been removed, the floss should “squeak” against your clean teeth.
  4. Start with a fresh length of floss for each tooth.

Save Your Teeth with Root Canal Therapy!

August 28, 2012

Traditionally, if the nerve tissue (pulp) of a tooth became infected, the tooth would need to be extracted before this infection caused further issues. Root canal therapy has helped patients retain their teeth that have been damaged by infection by gently removing the infected nerve tissue.

Contrary to popular belief, (we’re all heard the horror stories) root canal therapy performed in our centre should not cause any more discomfort than that of a normal filling. We do this by precisely drilling into the crown of the tooth, cleaning the root canals of infected tissue, and re-enforcing your restored tooth with a crown. To find out more about root canal therapy, or to book an appointment, please contact us.
